Well it’s been a great summer with the Ocean Renewable Energy Coalition, and it’s hard to believe it’s coming to an end so soon. In just two months working for OREC, I have gained substantial knowledge about the topic of marine hydrokinetic energy and experience navigating the congressional arena. Through my work with OREC, I’ve been given the opportunity to write articles for the monthly newsletter, attend congressional hearings on sensitive energy topics, film and edit promotional videos, and even sit in on a meeting with Commissioner Norris of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. These opportunities as well as the rest of my responsibilities at OREC have provided valuable experience that I will take with me as I continue my education.
In just a week I’ll be heading back to the University of Southern California for my final year on track to graduate with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Who knows what will come post graduation. Perhaps you’ll find me once again back in the nation’s capitol helping to advance renewable energy policy.
